Being Saved DOESN'T Make You A GOOD Person!!

Photobucket

**WARNING: This Blog may contain extreme realistic depictions and scenarios that may offend sensitive, close-minded, simple muthafuckas who don't understand the concept of looking OUTSIDE the box. Proceed at your own risk.**

I think the title of this post speaks volumes by itself, but let me fill you in on some background behind it.

It's Sunday.

What some may consider the Sabbath or a holy day.

I'm with someone who I would call a friend of mine (read: ex-girlfriend) and we're having a discussion about her computer which isn't working right. I'm enjoying my breakfast which I refer to as a "Biggie Special" - you know, a "T-bone steak, cheese eggs, and Welch's grape" - except minus the Welch's grape juice. She skipped church this particular Sunday but is getting a good dosage of the Word by reading the bible and listening to gospel hymns via Direct TV's XM Gospel station.

Anyhow, she makes a comment about me taking her computer to BestBuy to get it looked at. I throw a look at her that screams, "Who? Me? It's Your Damn Computer...what the fuck are YOU doing that's prohibits you from taking your own shyt to get repaired?" Keep in mind, that's what my look said, I didn't verbalize it. Long story short - she went off!! Screaming! Cussing!! Hollering!!! Even getting physical to the point where my plate of breakfast was brashly knocked from my hands and splattered across the wall and the carpet!!!!

Brown A-1 sauce + Tan Carpet = Not. A. Good. Look.

I left the room to avoid further nonsense. Actually, that's a fib. I was thrown out of the room.

Now, (ReeeWiiiiind!!) the whole time she was fussing and cussing, I couldn't help but notice the Holy Bible laying right there in front of her. It was kinda funny because as she cussed like an angry, irate sailor, I blocked out her words and my mind automatically transformed her syllables into the "Whauungh...Whauungh...Whauungh" language that Charlie Brown's teacher speaks in. Everything moved in slow motion as my eyes went from her screaming, mad-woman face to the Holy good book spread open in front of her. The scene just screamed of irony.

Being that my brain is constantly at work, it threw a concept into my head that I thought was interesting:

Why are some of the holiest people the evilest?

I mean when you think about all of the wars that have plagued the world since the beginning of time, the vast majority of them were because of, or in some way, based on religion. Either people are killing people because they are of a different faith or people killing people with attempts of spreading their faith or people of the SAME faith "sect-tripping" amongst themselves. **MENTAL NOTE TO SELF: I must copyright the phrase "sect-tripping"** Yet, most religious faiths have a "Thou Shalt Not Kill." clause somewhere in their doctrine. Ain't that bout a bytch!?!?!?

Do you know how much bloodshed has been a result of making Christianity and Islam the most "popular" religions on the planet?? From the Crusades, The French Wars of Religion in the 16th century, the Jihad groups of today and throughout history, the Thirty Years War, the Saxon Wars, etc., these "holy" muthafuckas did EVIL shyt!! Period.

And that evil still persists in 2008 in the hearts of men and women who feel as if they're "Holier Than Thou". Look around...you see them Every. Damn. Day. They're in the news. The priests who play with little boys' dicks...Photobucketthe pastors who prey on impressionable females in their congregation...the screwed up politicians who use religion as a basis of their sick, inhumane policies all for the benefit of financial gains...they're ALL OVER THE PLACE!!

Here's a few attributes that these "holier than thou" folks seem to always possess. See if you know people like this...

Photobucket

1.) They always pass judgement on others.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't GOD the only one who should judge people. These folks swear that they are God.

2.) They throw their religion in your face as a badge of honor like they're better than you. I always hear of folks talking about how they go to church EVERY Sunday and whatnot. This does NOT, in no way, make up for being an outright sinner or someone with just a negative vibe throughout the remainder of the week. Apparently, you're not practicing what you're picking up in church so you might as well just skip it all together.

Oh.

Nevermind.

That's right...I forgot. You gotta still go to gossip and show off your latest church clothes...

Going to church "religiously" every week, doesn't make you look better in the eyes of the Lord if you're behaving devilish the remainder of the week.

3.) They're Close-Minded.

I can't stress this enough. There comes a time when the most devout of Christians should just accept the fact that there are other religions out there. None is better than the next. Nope, not even yours. It's a matter of preference and what's in your heart.

===================================

I interrupt this blog for a brief public service announcement.

===================================

***P.S.A.: I encourage all to not blindly accept what you are told or force fed and to actually do some research to find out why you believe what you believe.

This public service announcement has been brought to you by my2cents-sense.blogspot.com. Thank you.

Back to the matter at hand...

In no way, shape, or form am I advocating that all people who are heavily into their religion evil. Nor am I saying that anything is wrong with informing others of your faith and practices.

I guess the bottom line is simple.

Stop With The Damn Hypocracy!!

Wow...Kudos on the blog? BTW...was it snowing when she asked you to take it to Best Buy?

Just joking, but seriously I agree with you. People do tend to use religion like a moist towelette. They figure they can do or say what they want and then use "being saved" as a way to clean it up.

Being saved doesn't make you a good person, but it should make a person want to change some of their negative habits.

To make it a bit more personal, I am saved, and a believer and I am not perfect nor do I claim to be. I go to church, but I don't go every single Sunday. People don't understand that God is always in your heart if you are a believer like you say you are, and you don't have to go to a building to hear the word of God. It's great to worship and fellowship with other believers, but I have been to some churches and can sense the presence of God wasn't even close to being in the building.

I wrote a paper on "Safe Haven Christianity," I have to find that and post that one day.

Thanks for the insight.

Okay I think you are four for four....because once again I completely agree...there was a time when I was going to church ever single Sunday but that also happen to be a church that I felt wasn't fake and just looking for money. That is my biggest pet peeve with these churches....the begging...I have left in the middle of a service before because the ignorance was so overwhelming and I have no problems saying that was at Perfecting...where people seem to think the celebrity affliation makes them immune to any wrong doing..that was the first and last time I ever went there. Even the church that I once attended regularly which is in Atlanta is now knocking on mega-church status door...which of course is where the begging is breed. I don't attend church in the form of a building anymore....I take time to talk to God and read various religious text and I consider that my church and I think that is my business. The people in my life understand my point of view and don't judge me...one of my friends did push me into trying her church for a little while, it was cool until I found out that her attractive 30-something year old minster had been sleeping with several women in the congregation...man of God or a man using his looks and age to get women where he knew they would be vulnerable? But on another note...what kind of women are you messing with that your breakfast ends up on the wall and the carpet over you not taking her computer to BestBuy?? Crazy is never attractive sweetie...lol!!!

@Princess Kandy,
No it wasn't snowing, silly. And you're absolutely correct in saying "being saved should make a person want to change some of their negative habits." The problem is, it doesn't for most people. I'm like fine, just cause you're going to heaven doesn't mean like you have to act like a freakin' DEVIL while you're on earth!! I don't get people sometimes...

@ Telese,
You're absolutely RIGHT...crazy is NEVER attractive...lol. Hence the term "ex"...

And YES, the begging and collections that takes place in these churches is RIDICULOUS!! For real!!

And ummm...I don't know what you mean "4 for 4". I'm ALWAYS on point...you're just now realizing that thus forth agreeing...lol.

ALWAYS on point huh?...obviously not since you chose the girl who threw your breakfast up against the wall...LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Bro. as always I'm going to give you something from "my perspective". What you have written about is something I have been talking about in public and private conversation for a short time now. I had a topic of choice that I used to get people commenting back to me on. My topic was "tradition". I'm not prejudice, I hate everybody equally and on an individual level. Forgive me for my honesty and hate me if I lie to you, but not for speaking "my truth". I'm going to step back into history though, while offering a subtle bit of hate too.

As slavery began to become more tame, meaning slaves weren't always running away from the master, they slaves were given something to think about. They were told about a place that they would someday enjoy, "Heaven". They were told they would only see "Heaven" only if they did what they were told without any conflict, rebellion, or escape of any type. To make this "Heaven" seem even more realistic to them, they were encourage to obediently attend the master's Sunday services. Some attended through force, the wildly ones. Of course the slaves weren't allowed inside the sacred buildings, but they could gather around outside the windows to receive the same message that the master's abided by. So, if the message was good enough for the master, and he's a free man, then it must be something good for us too, or so the slave thought. Now as a people, don't forget that slaves had a religion before being brought into captivity, but they weren't allowed to express themselves through their own heritage and tradition. The slave had to use the religion of the slave owners, if there would be any use of religion at all. The big advantage to going to church for the slave was not having to work in the fields and around the house, or anywhere on the plantations. This is why we attend church and we're not supposed to work on Sundays. Now why do we wear our best clothes on Sunday for church service? Simple. We are cleansing and preparing ourselves to enter the "passageway into Heaven", the church. The slave owners put away their filthy clothing that they wore during the week, to become more diginified and accepteable in "the eyes of the Lord ". No matter what a slave owner did during the week, even if it was torture or murder, all he had to do was clean up on Sundays and make himself presentable for "God". This is where the meaning of "wash away your sins and all will be forgive, if you prepare yourself for the Lord" comes from. We as black people have taken it out of context though. The best clothes you owned, were the best clothes you were on Sundays. Now, we go out and buy the best we can, just for Sundays, thinking it will bring us that much closer to "Heaven". "God only takes the best of the best into his kingdom, so we must look our best". We have forgotten about the inside of our hearts and minds.

Okay, back to "tradition". Today, we attend churches because we want to, not because we are forced, at least sometimes were not. The message is the same. "Do good and follow the rules, and you too can make it into Heaven". I have seen people quit their jobs, simply because they said they wanted to go to church, but they still sinned all during the week as usual. Church for the slave masters was a way of networking and socializing with other landowners, but it also re-enforced the facts in their mind that what they were doing was okay, as long as you asked for forgiveness. Here's an example. someone usually provides prayer to football players, right before the game starts, I know because I played. They ask for forgiveness and safety, even though our duty was to punish, hurt, degrade, and steal away the spirit and hope of the opposing team, in order to achieve a win. Does that not not sound familiar?

The slaves went to church to get out of working. the masters took notice of that and used that to instill even more fear into the slaves, once the slaves had an understanding of the message. This is why a preacher can commit the sin of messing with children and other members. This is why they can steal and buy the lavish gifts. This is why they continue to build other churches to spread their word. They have no fear for that that doesn't exist on the outside. The Jews made a perfect example of that by murdering "the one that brings hope". Even today, the Jews have no fear. They control everything that exist in this "United States" and abroad, and they will not let you in because they hate you. How do I know this? I was told this by a young Jewish boy once that I befriended, while working in a grocery store years ago. It took a while to become cool and convesational with him, but after I did, he told me something. He said that I was different. I asked what do you mean? He said, "you're different from everybody else. My parents told me to never be friends with anyone that isn't like us". I asked were they in the "Klan"? He said, "no, were Jewish. That's what they teach us".

This is why your girl could curse while in the presence of a bible. Things happen because they will, not because someone wills it. The "power" is within us, but you have to believe. This is another reason why Sundays are so important. Sunday is the most powerful day of the week, because all that energy is channeled into a certain cause, which is usually prayer. Focus and meditation changes things, that's all prayer is. There really isn't a need for a church at all.
