checkmate

Photobucket

I'll be the first to admit when I'm wrong.

And GOT DAMN, it feels SO GOOD to be wrong right now. America has elected a Black Man as their President. I knew in my heart of hearts that AmeriKKKa would never allow this to happen...lo and behold, I stand corrected.

I'm an Obama supporter and my only wish now is that the "bad apples" in America don't start trippin'. But I'm not going to entertain that right now.

Anyway, I hope everyone celebrate responsibly and don't neccessarily throw it up in Republican/McCain supporters in an exuberant way. There should be no "We Won Bytchez!!", "Take That Muthafuckaz!!", or "BooYah!!'s".

Keep in mind that there's a LOOONNNGGG road ahead and this is just one step (albeit a HUGE one) so let not get too lax. As the cliche' goes, this is checkers not chess.

So when addressing McCain/Palin supporters, just quietly say to them "checkmate".

That is all...and keep it moving.

In the words of the WU, "You best Protect Ya' Neck!!"

P.S. I am saddened that his grand mammy didn't live to see the day. I know the fact she didn't make it still weighs heavy on my dude.

P.S.S. Can we start a petition to paint the white house BLACK or is it too early?? Lol. Word to MC Breed.

P.S.S.S. I wonder what Bill Cosby has to say about have a Black President with a name like "BARACK"...I'm just asking...

I believe the text I sent says it all for me and my standing on tonight's events. But my glory moment came when I saw Rev. Jesse Jackson crying as it was announced that Obama had won. From standing with Dr. King and hearing the prophetic words " We shall over come someday," to standing before the man who has said to America...today is that day. My faith in the American people has been particially restored.

@ Princess Kandy: I agree with "partially restored"...still skeptic on what the future will bring though.

As far as Jackson, I have mixed reactions (hey, that rhymed). I saw the same image you saw (assuming) and I hope that the "cut his nuts off" demons have subsided in Jesse's soul.

The title of his book says it all!!! "The Audacity of Hope"... I hope people recognize the underlying message in all of this...

OBAMA '08

I think she meant "practically restored" instead of "partially restored", but... I don't know, I could be wrong. I'll let her clarify.

And rid yourself of your skepticism. It's mind poison!

@MzGunn: Damn, where you been homie?? lol!!

Anyway, I feel you on the "hope" part and that the magnitude of this election is truly epic.

Skepticism plays apart in my psyche though because I'm not COMPLETELY overcome with emotion. The emotional side of me is overjoyed, but the logically thinking side knows that we got a LONG way to go before we see great "change". I don't thing that's poisonous...just moreso living in reality.

i remember the day i revealed ur political unreadiness and it made me sad because as a OBAMA-MAMA i was fervently supportive but could empathize with ur hesitation to be too excited about the movement that Barack Obama represents... it makes me smile that u have admitted u were "wrong" and we can add humility to the long list of why I "heart" you....lol

did u know that "Barack" means "praise the Lord"?

SI SE PUEDE!!

No, I didn't know that's what it means. I wonder if Heathcliff Huxtable approves and shyt.

Of course I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong. As of today, I've been on this earth 362,069 days. Even the great ME is bound to be wrong at least ONE of those days...lol.

i wish his grandma could've seen it too. feels really good today. strange (cuz i'm a skeptic like you, particularly as it pertains the u.s. and it's continued policies/institutionalized racism) but good.

Wrong once?....Let's try about 300,000 of those days....LOL!!! I can't say I wasn't amazed though...I was beyond hopeful but there was a nagging voice in my mind that said they aren't going to let it happen....so glad that the American people told that little voice to SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!...LOL!!!! I am so happy and so full...I just can't explain..okay don't have much more to say just wanted to participate and by the way I don't know about anyone else but didn't every black man I saw today had a special air of confidence...it was nice...made me say as open minded as I have been there is no way in hell I'll ever marry anybody but a black man:-)

OK, I really need to stop typing and not proofreading. It should've been practically restored (Thanks Mzgunn)

As for the remarks made by the Right Rev. Jesse J, I don't think he really meant it. I personally believe the comments Obama made in regard to men being more responsible for their children struck a guilt nerve and he spoke out of anger.

@ Telese:
Because you're doing that favor for me, I'm gonna reserve my comment about me being wrong most of my days. I'll play nice. Plus, as Oshea Jackson said, "Today Was A Good Day" so I'm not gonna feed into your asinine remarks ;-) Enjoy your day. You're dismissed.

@Princess Kandy:
To paraphrase O-Dog in "Menace": Fuck that...I ain't letting that shyt ride!! Let's be real, Jesse wasn't riding for Barack at first. He was rolling with the Clintons. Same thing goes for John Lewis who's all over TV crying to Monica Kaufman when he wasn't riding with Obama either. GTFOH!!

Telese said...

Ooooo...since I have a pass for the day I am sooooo tempted to take it there but I guess I'll refrain....LOL!!!!!...execpt for that "you're dismissed" part....what kind of Daddy-Professor-Pimp shit do you think is going on here? I'll take a seat and kick my stillettos up on your coffee table anytime I please and dare you to tell me when I leave or stay...LOL!!!!!!!!**people get a black president and start losing their damn minds**...LOL!!

LMBAO! I've always said eff Bill Cosby. Now Barack can say it too!

@Dame

Simply recognizing that we have a "long way to go" before we see great change, as you say, isn't skepticism :0)

Not believing that it can happen- is.

Obama being elected as President of the United States IS "great change".

DARE TO DREAM!!!

Glad to hear people admit when they were wrong, but it's alright someone has to be critical.
